Words of the Ministry

Praise our God dear saints, this is a new year the Lord has made, we would rejoice and be glad in it. As we journey this year we trust that the Lord would grant us greater light into his hidden riches. Just like previous years, I see many making new year resolutions, they have strong determination, and they are willing to pay the price but unfortunately not many would eventually actualize their goals because they are yet to engage some certain principles as revealed in scriptures. In Prov 16:9 the bible says 9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directed his steps. This happens to be one of the fundamental flaws with human planning, we tend to leave out God,who is the past, present and future. He is the way and only him knows the way.

To avoid the several mistakes of many who start strong and break down midyear only to procrastinate concerning their goals into the next year, we need to start the year with God, we need to know his mind. The bible instructs us in Ps 127:1 saying Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is therefore expedient that we remain in the will of God to enjoy his blessing as he only blesses what he initiates.

As we would be seeing in this week’s study, determination is not enough, as we check with our experience, history and contemporary happenings around us, we see that many start with very good intentions, determination and commitment only to crash mid-way, may that not be your portion.  This is a foretaste of the week’s devotional, we trust God to delve deeper within the week on how to start strong and end well, amen.
