Topic: God with us empowers us spiritually
Today’s Reading:
2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Mar 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Words of the Ministry:
As we further consider the theme Emmanuel, we would be considering another benefit of God dwelling with us which is that he gives us spiritual abilities which are best described as supernatural. The bible in several places emphasize that God wanted to dwell in man so that he can live out his life in man. We see a type in the tabernacle and later in the temple. Jesus became the fulfilment of the temple, and we today are the reality of God’s dwelling place on earth. While Jesus worked the earth, he taught that the things he did was what his father did through him (Jhn 14.10-12, Acts 2.22). We see the same in the life of the apostles, they did miracles, sign and wonders through the Holy Spirit who is God with them (Acts 3.3-16, 4.29-31). Jesus before leaving the earth promised that we that believe would do greater works, this is meant to be done through the Holy Spirit with us.
Dear saint, you are no more ordinary, you are a solution provider, your faculties are now that of Christ, the bible teaches that we are the members of his body, in him we move and have our being, our hands, legs, eyes, mouth etc has become his, we are to execute judgment of his enemies and bring comfort to this dying world. We are to give no room to the devil by shining his light. In our todays reading we see the apostle saying we are the temple of God, the actual word used as temple here is naos in Greek which specifically referred to the Holy of Holies and not the outer temple which is called hieron in Greek. So what the bible says we are is the Holy of Hollies, where God actually dwelt in the physical temple, a place where only the High priest could visit once a year after several ceremonial cleansing sacrifices. God then promised to not only dwell in us but walk, move in us, halleluyah!
God from our Spirit which is today’s Holy of Holies is therefore wanting to express his own abilities which are supernatural through our faculties, that makes every believer a superhuman. Whoever we minister to, touch, deal with or even seat with will therefore have the opportunity to encounter God. In the second reading we see the Lord working with the apostles and confirming their words with signs and wonder. I like to encourage you not to hold back, you have been created for greater works, what eyes have not seen and ears have not heard, our real world is spiritual and we can influence the natural world as we grow in knowledge. God intends that we be a wonder to our age and time, men should look at us and be confused asking if you are god or man, they should be able to conclude that indeed God is with you.
