Topic: Living in God’s Consciousness – Knowing
Today’s Reading:
Psa 139:7-11
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
Words of the Ministry:
This week we have taken some time to emphasize on the reality of Emmanuel which means God with us and we saw a few examples of men that walked with God and the benefits they enjoyed. From today I like to consider how we can be more aware of God with us, the matter is not maybe he is with us or not rather it is a matter of we realizing he is with us as to whatever extent we realize he is with us, that is the extent to which we can enjoy the benefits of his Prescence both with us and in us. For many saints they realize God is with them after they have been through a certain challenge and have overcome, they testify and acknowledge God is with them, to them when circumstances seem difficult and things don’t work as planned, God is not with them. To some others God is with them when in Church or carrying out a religious function, some other say God is with them when they make some money. To all the aforementioned, one thing is common to them, they all live their Christian life by sight and not by faith.
The bible teaches us that we are to live not by sight but by faith (2 Cor.5.7), from that scripture, the believer is not being told how we should walk but how a believer walks as everything concerning the Christian life is by faith. Be it repentance, salvation, sanctification, justification or even our eternal hope of the new earth, all is lived by faith, we believe Jesus died for us and repentance and accepting his lordship grants us eternal life, this we do not because we saw it anywhere happening literarily or because we felt anything but because the bible says so. God with us is not a feeling, you don’t have to feel certain sensations neither do you have to have a financial or material testimony to be sure, we believe because the bible says so, When we live our life knowing, then we can rest. In other words, while we bath, drive, eat, sleep, do business or in a trying situation God is still with us.
We must cultivate the habit of acknowledging him, we must always say to our hearing, thank you God for being with me, I love you lord. The bible says believers should not grieve the Holy Spirit whereby they are sealed unto the day of redemption (Eph 4.30). Grieve as used here is just as when a husband is told not to grieve his wife, not to make her sorrowful or be in heaviness of heart. Such word can be understood in relationship that cant be abandoned anyhow like marriage to which God says he hates divorce. The God in us is so tied to us that we can grieve him, he is therefore not a part time God, he is fully with us and in us. From today’s reading, we see the psalmist saying there is nowhere to hide for believers, God is always with us, Emmanuel!
