Words of the Ministry:
Yesterday we began our series on divine encounter, and we defined it as a supernatural visitation of divinity to humanity, when God decides to break protocols to intervene in the life of a man. We saw an example of a man that had a supernatural encounter with Jesus the Godman and how his life became a testimony afterwards. Our burden today is to consider the life of the first man Adam to give us a glimpse of God’s original intention concerning what we call divine encounters.
The bible in Gen 2 and 3 make us understand that God always visited man in the cool of the day, after creating Adam, the bible said God came around and saw the need for the woman, God severally brought animals to Adam to see what he would call them and God even brought Eve his wife. God had several conversations with Adam and Eve and the matters included how to manage the garden, the name of the animals, how to exercise their dominion and become fruitful and the trees they could eat and not eat. From all the aforementioned, we can see that what we call divine encounter was a daily experience Adam had, the first couple lived a daily life of encounters, so unlike a once a while situation we see after the fall of men that warranted men to begin to call on the name of the Lord (Gen 4.26), Adam and his wife Eve were enjoying a daily encounter with Jehovah.
While Adam and Eve lived in obedience under God’s rule, they enjoyed divine health, they never fell sick and never needed healing, they enjoyed supernatural provision, protection from what we call wild animals, mosquitoes and snakes couldn’t harm them, they had children in that condition, they couldn’t have been unruly, their business which was agriculture was booming without a better yesterday experience. What occurred maybe once in a life time in the life of many was natural and normal to them, in that state they lived the supernatural life, naturally.
Unfortunately, this testimony was short lived as they were tempted, they fell and lost the divine presence that gave them a life of bliss, immediately afterwards, they began to age, business became tough, they had unruly children, their marriage became hell and animals including insects had no regard for them. We can therefore see that the glory of living in God’s presence, what we call an encounter was originally ordained to be our experience and if not for the fall, we won’t even use such words. What a glory Adam lost but thanks to God we have a redeemer in Jesus Christ. Join us within the week as we explore some more examples and how to maximize what Christ got for us through his redemptive work. May the Lord grant us light, shalom!
