Topic: The benefits of the atoning sacrifice
Text : Heb 10:16-17
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. KJV
Words of the Ministry:
Today we come to the benefits of the atonement, we have seen the need for the atonement, how it was practiced in the Old Testament, the limitations of the old testament atonement and how all such types pointed to Christ the actual lamb of God. Yesterday, we looked at the atonement in the new covenant and how Christ fulfilled all requirements. We also made a list of some of the results of the atonement. We now intend to look into a few benefits of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ and how we should relate with it to maximize it.
First and foremost, we have redemption through his blood, the once for all sacrifice of Jesus Christ brought an end to the weekly, monthly and yearly blood sacrifice (Rom 3.24), we can now approach God with a pure conscience, that was one of the major limits of animal sacrifice, it could only deal with the sin of the flesh and not the soul. Christ through his atoning work has given us a right to the holy of Holies and not just that, we have the Holy of Holies in Us, in our Spirits because God dwells in our Spirit.
Christ our high priest has offered his eternal blood on our behalf for all to God in the heavenly holy of holies Heb. 10.10-12, now we can approach God’s throne without condemnation Rom 8.1, Heb 4.16, we are free from the power of sin (Rom 6.14) and if we sin, we have an advocate with the father (1 Jhn 2.1). The matter of sin is settled, our soul is now being renewed and our bodies also healed. In Isiah 53.5, the bible says by his stripes we are healed, 1 pet 2.24 referred to it in the past tense. Many argue against the verse refuting to bodily healing but in Mathew 8.16-17 the bible quotes it’s a fulfilment of the verse.
Saints you need not carry your ailment around just as you should drop your condemnation, the same way you were forgiven, you have also been healed Psalm 103.3. You need to reach out to enjoy the benefits.
