Topic: Understanding divine process

Today’s Reading: Ruth 3:16-18

16 When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “Is that you, my daughter? “Then she told her all that the man had done for her. 17 And she said, “These six ephahs of barley he gave me; for he said to me, ‘Do not go empty-handed to your mother-in-law.'” 18 Then she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.” NKJV

Words of the Ministry:

Yesterday we spent some time on the encounter Ruth had with Boaz at the threshing floor, we did emphasize that using the story of Ruth and Boaz as type of the church and Christ which we would be considering in greater details tomorrow, believers in approaching God must wash themselves with water which is type of the word, anoint themselves with oil which typifies the holy Spirit, change their garment, which typifies putting on our new nature, visit the threshing floor and lie by the Lord’s feet which typifies submission and humility. We did say those are basic requirements to get answers to our prayers.

Today I like to comment briefly on the immediate answer Ruth got from Boaz, on leaving Boaz presence, Ruth was given six ephahs of barley to give her mother in-law, although Ruth anticipated an immediate answer to the matter of Boar redeeming her as her husband’s kinsman, what she got at that instance was six ephahs not for herself but for her mother in-law. The implication of this is better understood when we check with our experiences, many times we seek the Lord with our heart and in humility but it seems as though what we get is not what we have expected. Atimes it seems our answers although beneficial are not what we expected from God especially when we know it’s the will of God.

Naomi’s response to Ruth is like that of an experienced an elderly saint. Naomi said Ruth should await the response from Boaz as he would not rest until an answer is given. So is it with the Lord, I like to encourage many that are discouraged that despite being sure of God’s will and despite their intense praying, it seems as though the Lord only listens but never acts, the bible says Ps 30.5b.. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. NKJV. When it seems the Lord has not answered your request, you must learn to wait.

As we seek the lord, we later come to understand the God’s divine process, as we have seen up till this time in Ruth’s life, God has continually worked on her being, teaching her patience, perseverance, humility and persistence, Peter teaching on divine process said in 2 Peter 1:5-11

“5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

NKJV. May the Lord grant us light.
