Memory Verse: Rom 10:11

11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” NKJV

Topic: Boaz Redeems Ruth

Today’s Reading: Ruth 4:6-9

6 And the close relative said, “I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I ruin my own inheritance. You redeem my right of redemption for yourself, for I cannot redeem it.” 7 Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning redeeming and exchanging, to confirm anything: one man took off his sandal and gave it to the other, and this was a confirmation in Israel. 8 Therefore the close relative said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself.” So he took off his sandal. 9 And Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses this day that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi. NKJV

Words of the Ministry:

Today we come to chapter 4 of the book o Ruth, and we see an episode unfolding, Boaz sitting at the gate requesting the next in line relative to redeem Ruth (Rut 3.12-13) which was according to their custom, by so doing he was to raise children in the name of the late husband of Ruth. The next in-line kinsman refused saying he could not fulfil the redemption right and therefore asked that Boaz redeem her instead. Boaz agreed, he redeemed Ruth and as a result he bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi. This is a type of Christ and the Church, before we were saved our closest Kinsman was our natural man who became our closest relative because of the fall of man but could not redeem us from sin and death of the old man however Boaz who typifies Christ as our Kinsman has redeemed us from our sin, recover our lost right of our natural man in God’s creation, be our new Husband in His divine organic union with us, and take us as His counterpart for His increase (Ruth 4:7-13).

Christ through his incarnation (Heb 2.14), qualified to redeem us and make us his matching counterpart in life. Through this redemption, we have gained all we lost in our natural man, we are free from the bondages of Satan, we have been brought into the riches of Christ. We believers have gained Christ as our eternal redeemer. This he does daily by rescuing us, delivering us, and saving us from all our troubles. Isa 54:5 says for your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. By this we see Christ as our redeeming husband, redeeming us from the indebtedness of our dead husband, from sin and from our old man. This he did by crucifying our old man on the cross (Rom 6.6) and raising us together with him so that we may bear much fruit (Rom 7.4).

Dear saints, what a testimony we have to share, what a deliverance Christ bought for us, now we are the bride of Christ, free from the old man, sin and death. We are to bear much fruit bringing many sons into the kingdom, we are to extend and expand the kingdom. That is the good news, we that were once married to our old man has now been redeemed and freed from our bondages, sin and poverty, we now partake of Christ riches, halleluiah. May the Lord grant us light. Please keep in mind our once-a-month meeting coming up this Sunday by 4pm to 6.30 pm. Please don’t come alone, come with family and friend. Christ is our life.
