Topic: Why you must be born again
Today’s Reading: John 3.3-5
Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Words of the Ministry:
This week we would be looking at probably the most used clause in evangelism among Christian and that is “being born again”. Many use this term not knowing the implication of the statement. It is so commonly used that even the unsaved use it to discourage intending witnesses, they quickly say I am born again while other use it as a shame word for believers especially when they won’t bulge to a misconduct, the call such individual “born again”, that brings us to the questions what it means to be born again, why must I be born again and how am I different from those that are not born again.
In answering the above questions and many more, we need to understand the God’s intention in creating man. The bible teaches that God created man in his image and likeness so that the created man would be a part of his family, we men being the many sons of God (Rom 8.29, Heb 2.10). This we could only achieve by having his life within us and living it out. For instance, a lion and his seed must have the life of a lion so likewise as children of God, we were created to contain God as our life so that we can live his life as one big family (Jhn 3.16, 1.12-14) by this we would be his matching counterpart in life and nature but not I the God head.
To achieve this, God created our forefather Adam who double as our natural human source. Unfortunately, Adam fell for the lies of the devil and he lost access to the tree of life, the very element needed to make him contain God as life in his Spirit (Gen 2.9, 3.22, Jhn 10.10, 6.54-58). The consequence of this is that man fell short of God’s glory, man’s relationship with God was severed drastically, Man died in Adam and man was doomed for hell which was originally prepared for Satan and his Seed. With all the aforementioned woes on man, the only solution for man to be free from the impending judgement was to be dead and be born again, this time not as a seed of Adam our natural father but a seed of God free from the woes, curses and challenges of the first man Adam.
The bible teaches that trough Jesus Christ the last Adam, all those who believe are said to be born again, having the life of God in them.
