Words of the Ministry:

Today we come to the 5th verse, David the psalmist said the good shepherd sets a table for him in the presence of his enemies.  The bible teaches that when a man’s way pleases the Lord, he makes his enemies to be at peace with him (Pro 16.7), By implication, the enemies remain enemies, the devil and demons don’t become our friends because we are sheep to the shepherd rather because we are submissive to the shepherd they can’t perpetrate their evil agenda, so it’s as though they are not existing. We saw yesterday, the rod of the shepherd used to protect the sheep from enemies.  God most times won’t take away all our enemies to bless us rather despite our enemies he would do the unthinkable to glorify his name.

The psalmist said the Lord anointed his head with oil probably referring to his kingly anointing through Samuel the Prophet. The oil here is a type of the Holy Spirit. All the Lord’s sheep are anointed with oil and that further buttresses the previous statement of the Lord setting a table in the presence of our enemies because the bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm (Psa 105.15), the anointing of the Holy Spirit is a sign of touch not, it is therefore inappropriate for devils and demons or even human agent to touch you or do harm to anyone or anything that concerns you. We must hold on the Lord with his word, I have been anointed by the spirit, I have the anointing of touch not and therefore all demons and human agents must let me be.

The testimony of the psalmist included exceeding provision; he said his cup ran over. We can see that our God is indeed able to provide all that we need according to his own riches (Phil 4.19). All we need to do is live in obedience and submission to his will, then our provision would be pressed down, shaken together and it would eventually run over. In other words, our action and inactions determine our harvest. Through the testimony of the psalmist we can therefore see that it’s not God’s intention for the saints to be a laughing stock, full of pain, suffering and poverty. He doesn’t intend we are subject to the devil, demons and human satanic agents. The problem most times is that many don’t obey the voice of the shepherd. They leave the fold and are vulnerable to the devil. The flesh in them opens the door for satanic manipulation and attacks.  Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he would flee, may the Lord grant us light.
