Words of the Ministry:

Today the psalmist in verse 4 uses a figure of speech to his express his confidence in the Shepherd our Lord, he said though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death, he would fear no evil. The valley of the shadow of death although isn’t death but a near death situation, a hard trial that should normally cause fear, doubt and worry. It could be in health, marriage, education, finances, marriage etc. Looking at the life of David who knew God of the secret place as the scriptures says the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and is safe (Pro 18.10). David did not fear evil because he knew the Lord was with him. Looking at the new covenant, we realize we are at a greater advantage as the Lord is not only with us but in us (Jhn 14.16, Acts 2.39).

Saints, must realize that at the deepest lows of or lives, the Lord is still with us. Our situations may paint pictures to suggest God has forsaken us, he has abandoned us, we are all alone, we are a laughingstock and an example of a man who failed because of trusting the Lord. All of the aforementioned is the trick of the devil, there is  no record of any man in history that lost out because he trusted the Lord, unfortunately our society has a different vocabulary from the kingdom, what we call suffering most times is pruning for organic growth, God allows us to go through certain situations to further conform us to his image. In our sorrowful situations, we must remind ourselves of verses like Isa 49:15-16  Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.  Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

Again, we see David acknowledging the place of the rod and the staff. The staff is normally used to guide the sheep to the right path while the rod is used to chase out the any treat to the sheep. David from his experience said both the rod which is the word of Gods light to our path (Ps 119.105) and the rod which is God offensive weapon to deal with our enemy’s occasional deal with the enemy within us as in the case of David and Uriah, God had to deal with greed, lust and murder. David from walking with the Lord has learnt how to bear God’s discipline if need be for his organic growth in life. Saints, this is not a small matter. Where do you put your trust in trying times, how do you react to the guidance of the Lord and the dealing from God if need be? May the Lord grant us light.
