Words of the Ministry:

Yesterday we began looking at the life of Samson, a man born after several years of his parents waiting and following a divine encounter with an angel. The angel gave clear instructions about his destiny and call.  Samson’s’ parents were told to avoid any strong drink and any unclean animal. The angel said their son, Samson was to be a deliverer and a Nazarene from birth and no razor was to be used on his head (Judg 13.4-5). Samson was separated to the purpose of God even before he was born, he was a to live a life of separation from worldly living and enjoyment. As we learnt yesterday, to be a Nazarene was synonymous to being Holy as both meant to be separated and sanctified unto God. As we look at the separation of Samson, we see a type of believers call to a higher and holy standard of living. We see that as Christians, we are not just meant to live a happy life but a holy life because from our new birth, our destiny is to be separated and holy unto the Lord.

The call of Samson’s is a type of our call, the bible is clear concerning our call, we have been called out of the world to live a life separated unto God, we have been chosen to deliver the unsaved from the hands of today’s philistines of sin and worldliness. God is counting on us to be his Samson in this generation. Looking at the consecration of Samson, we see a similar consecration in believers today. The first was that he was to keep his hair, to keep long hair for a male was a thing of shame (1 Cor 11.14  ), we as believers and today’s Nazarene are shame bearers of the Lord, we are to bear the shame of Christ, we are to have a different outlook from the world, we are to be accessed and judged differently. When a person is to be identified, they normally look at the head and from there see the face and other features., The implication of being a shame bearer is that every time people encounter us, they see us carry our cross, the mark of Christ, a prove that we are Nazarene separated to God.

Saints, Our Nazarene call is from our new birth, the bible said we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit (Eph 1.13), our destiny is to carry our long hair which signifies the Holy Spirit in our Spirit all through the course of our lives. We are to live a life pleasing to God though opposite the world. For us to fulfil destiny, no razor must touch our hair, in other words we must ensure we continue in fellowship with God as nothing but the Holy Spirit in us signifies us as true Nazarene. Join us tomorrow as we look at the other concentrations of Samson and its implications on today’s believers.
