Words of the Ministry:

Hallelujah, today we would start a new life lesson on the life of a bible character called Samson. We would take some time to consider his life and ministry and we believe we would be able to draw some light that can be applicable to our today’s Christian living. The account of Samson is a powerful one with a terrible ending. He was a man that enjoyed the power of God but out of his carelessness destroyed his ministry. Samson lived as a Nazarene and we would be considering our lives too as a Nazarene and how God expects every believer to be a Nazarene indeed. As a preamble, Nazarenes in the Old Testament were to commit to the Nazarene vow for a period of time and at the end of such period of concentration (Num 6.1-21), they were free to live their normal life. Samson was a little different, he was born a Nazarene and he was to live as a Nazarene all the days of his life. It was lifetime commitment just as we have a lifetime commitment unto God (Judges 13.7).

To be a Nazarene meant to be separated, it meant to live a life of consecration unto the Lord, a similar word in the New Testament is the word Holiness, Holiness is not just an act, it means to be separated unto God. That’s why we see items in the temple separated and said to be holy, animals were separated as Holy and so were individuals. Just as Samson was a Nazarene in the Old Testament, he is a type of a believer called to be holy in the new covenant. We would be looking at his birth, life, and the challenges he faced, we would also from his life see the consequence of carnal and sinful living despite being called and saved by the Lord. Please spread the word with family and friend as we together feast on the theme of the week. May God grant us light.
