Life Capsule for Today 30th October,2022
Theme: Why wait? (2)
Memory Verse: Heb 13:8
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. KJV
Topic: Anti-Deliverance Agents (1)
Today’s Reading: John 5:5-7
5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” 7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
Amen, yesterday we began a study on the theme why wait? We looked at a familiar story in the bible of a certain man who had stayed 38 years by the pool of Bethesda, hoping and trusting for a miracle. We said, Bethesda means the house of mercy, we saw at Bethesda a large number of blind, deaf, dump and cripple folks hoping and trusting for the moving of the water. It was as if the pool was a meeting point for persons with infirmity, (Please read John 5.1-15 to have a broad understanding of the passage).
We said the imagery of Bethesda is a type of the church which is not only the House of God but a house of mercy, although many are in the church but they remain sick, by sick we said not just physical sickness but material, psychological and financial, a great number of believers despite being saved seem bound, that are in the church hoping and praying for the moving of the water which is a type of the Holy Spirit. They have heard accounts of such and are hoping that someday it would be their turn to experience God’s divine intervention, the preachers on the other hand have become motivational speakers and psychologist, giving word of comfort instead of being the instrument of a turnaround in the life of the saints, the church has now become a social gathering.
That brings me to the discussion for today which I call anti-deliverance agents, the first I would like to consider is “self-comfort”. Self-comfort is a situation in which despite the difficulties in a Peron’s life, despite believing it is not God’s will, the individual doesn’t see the need to enforce their right in Christ because of the number of those in same situation or similar situation. What this means is that because a good number of other believers face similar challenges, they say theirs is not that bad. They see reasons to procrastinate their deliverance to a later date comforting themselves with the suffering of others.
Saints, Hosea 4.6 says God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. What many don’t realize is that nothing changes until they change. The number of those suffering can never be a justification for suffering as Christ has paid for our healing, deliverance, and bondages. It is a fact that those with similar problems seems to locate themselves and become best of friends, comparing their level of pain and suffering, and comforting themselves with their increasing number. We must look unto Jesus and the finished work of the cross, we must never look at the crowd as even the majority can be wrong when it comes to the things of God. In 2 Peter 1:3 Peter said 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. And in Heb 12.2, we are admonished to look unto Jesus, look away from the environment, the ignorant majority and look into the perfect law of liberty to enjoy freedom in Christ. Amen.
