Today’s Reading: John 5:4-7
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Words of the Ministry:
Today we continue with anti-deliverance agent number two which is the traditions of men. Yesterday we saw the danger of self-comfort. We learnt that many don’t get their miracles today because they tend to encourage and comfort themselves with the challenges faced by others. The devil gives them reasons to rather appreciate the fact that it could have been worse. This is a satanic imagery of God as God doesn’t expect us his children to see him as a tyrant and wicked Lord. Jesus asked if your earthly father would give you what you ask, how much more your heavenly father. In Isiah, the bible said though a suckling mother forgets her child, the Lord would not abandon us. We need to have a proper picture of God. Close to that is traditions of men. Traditions of men has denied many from experiencing the wonderful intervention and miraculous power of God.
Jesus speaking on traditions said in Mat 15.6b Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. By this, we can say as powerful as the word and promises of God are the traditions taught by men has made the word of no effect. The unfortunate thing with today’s generation of Christians is that they rather uphold what their G.O says than the word of God, they are ready to argue against the bible ounce it is contrary to the personal revelation of their Pastor. They are quick to say our pastor said, our G.O said etc. Just like the man by the pool of Bethesda, all he has learnt for over 38 years was that to be healed, you needed to be the first in the pool when an angel stirs it, unfortunately, the times had changed and the Lord of the pool was before him, he had an opportunity with the God of the universe but instead of taking advantage, he again went to tradition saying except this conditions are met, I can’t get my miracle.
Saints many are like this man in the Church today and that is why miracles are scares, people prefer to hang on to the testimonies of how God healed or blessed others after they sowed a seed than to believe the pure word of God that says healing is in the atonement, many have been bound by the traditions of generational curse, sins and punishment, they sight the old testament to prove they are under the curse of their grandfathers even when the bible said they have died and their new linage is in Christ, some have been bound by the traditions of sin and guilt, they believe they are not holy enough to be heard by God even when God calls us saints, many believe except a man of God prays for them they can’t be delivered, the quote the verse that says by a prophet they were delivered and were preserved (Hos 12.13), they undermine the cross and the brutal death of Christ and his body broken for their deliverance. . Check with your experience, what is keeping you at the pool, why do you continually procrastinate your testimony, Are you a victim of the traditions of men? May the Lord grant us light
