13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. KJV
Words of the Ministry:
Amen, today we continue with our study on how to overcome temptation, we looked at two provisions yesterday namely, the cross and the word. Today we would be looking at a few more examples. The first to be considered today is the Holy Spirit. The holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity and he Is in every believer. The bible teaches that at salvation, the holy Spirit comes to be with us and in us just as he was with the disciples. One of the titles he has is the Spirit of truth because he would lead us into all truth.
As we live on earth as strangers we must live aware of the Holy Spirit whose temple we are (1Cor 3.16), by virtue of salvation we have all it takes to live a holy life unto God if only we yield our senses to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God guides our heart whenever the tempter comes, he reinforces what we have learnt and at the same time he pricks our conscience to make things right where necessary. The Holy Spirit addresses sin even from its root, as soon as the devil begins to implant a thought that is meant to tempt us to sin, the Holy Spirit bring up a contrary argument that is pure and holy, in place of temptation and sin, the Holy Spirit expresses his fruit of love, so instead of hate we have love, instead of bitterness we have joy, instead of strife we express peace. The Spirit never forces us but we must learn to be humble and submissive to his promptings, the more we do, the more we record victory over the devil and his wiles.
Another provision I like to highlight here is the counsel of the saints. God has placed in the church believers to be our guide and help in times of temptation. We must take advantage of the provision of such individuals in our local churches. 1 Cor 10:13 says 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. KJV, from the verse we see that whatever temptation we may face, some persons have faced similar situations in the past, a Godly counsel could help when the need arises. We must learn to associate with more experienced and elderly saints to guide us when we are confused and feel neglected, the devil always like to isolate believers in other to make his temptation more effective. May God grant us light.
