16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. KJV
Prov 19:9
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish. KJV

Words of the Ministry
Today we are considering the sixth of the six things God hates, bearing false witness and speaking lies that sows discord among brothers. This again is a typical attribute of Satan, he is known as the accuser, accusing us before God and accusing God to us. Bearing false witness is direct disobedience to the ninth commandment, thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
To bear false witness is not just to lie but to affect the lives and reputation of others negatively, many have lost their opportunities, relationship and even their lives due to the evil of false witnesses. In human society even the court of law frowns against bearing false witness, it’s called perjury. In most nations, such individuals are sent to serve a prison term.
Bearing false witness is common today for many reasons ranging from material gains, financial gains and to build relationships, as believers we must avoid the temptation of bearing false witness and sowing discord among the brethren, regardless of who would be hurt, we must choose Jesus above all. Whatever material of financial benefit we gain from such is a loop hole and a curse in our lives. Relationships built on that could serve a temporary purpose of excitement today but it would be a bigger tree of sorrow and frustration tomorrow. Business deals, marriage relationships, promotions and recommendations that come from being a false witness and sowing discord is a pit, a temptation prepared to swallow you eventually. You must make a U-turn and make amends,
If you have been a false witness in the past and caused damage to relationship, reputation and opportunities of others, it is time to repent. Go and restitute, prayerfully make amends where necessary as the God of heaven would certainly punish you if you don’t. Our memory verse assures us of that, a false witness would not go unpunished as you can deceive others but not God, the bible went further to say such persons would perish. Are you a victim of false witnesses, has anyone smeared your reputation for gains, does it look like they are happy with all the benefits they got from such evil, the bible has a word for you, Matt 5:11-12 (11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.) NKJV.
