Words of the Ministry:
Today as our custom is, I like to round off on the lessons from the life of Saul, we would agree that there are lots of lessons to be learnt as time and space would not permit. I like to encourage the reader to read 1 Samuel chapter 8-31 to have a more detailed understanding of the several sins of Saul. In Chapter 18, the bible says the Spirit of God left him and an unclean Spirit took over, although he was king, he ruled with an unclean Spirit. We can then see that its not the position but the power behind the position that matters. Same Saul could not tolerate the Lord’s anointed; he was after David and made several attempts to end his life. Saul also sought to kill his son Jonathan. His matter became so bad that he even consulted witches whom he once banned. Saul really fell from grass to grace and eventually in chapter 31, Saul committed suicide.
As we read this sorrowful account, one would ask himself, how did Saul become like this, how come he fell from grace to grace, a man who sought God early in his youth became a man who sought the dead and practiced necromancy. Among the several weaknesses of Saul, we would notice that he never repented genuinely, he never sought God publicly. Even when Saul admitted to Samuel he had sinned, he pleaded Samuel kept the secret between them and act as though all is well. One would then wonder how the blessing of kingship became more important and dearer to the heart of Saul than the God that blessed him (made him king). One would wonder how fast a man can forget his source and become proud like the devil.
Dear saints, let him that thinks he stands take heed, we must be careful not to frustrate the grace of God. Many are like Saul, they prefer the blessing to the blesser, their allegiance has shifted from Christ to the people, that have built and air of importance around their status that they take God for granted. We can see the several step Saul took before it became obvious, he las left the vine. God rejected him but he remained king, issuing command and leading men to war. Are you deceived that because you seem to prosper God is happy with your sin or you have you concluded grace is tantamount to carnality, repent before its too late. May the Lord grant us light.
