Today’s Reading: Eph 2:4-7
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
Saints yesterday we saw how God through the cross terminated the devil on the Cross. The bible says we were crucified with him and so was our flesh which was previously a fertile ground for the devil and his works. At the cross we died with Christ and we rose with him leaving the devil behind (1 Pet 1.3). Through this singular event we have a living hope, God in Christ has found his way into our Spirit, we are no more slaves to SIN and we are now born of God having the right to call him father (Rom 8.15, Gal.4.6). We must also state that although we are crucified with Christ and risen with him, the devil is still moving round looking for whom he may devour. At every point we lose guard, he tries to resurrect the flesh in us.
That brings us to the principle of Life and knowledge of good and evil. As we have previously learnt, the principle of LIFE is living through Christ, it is absolute dependence on God, admitting without him, we can do nothing, it is the principle of bearing the cross wherever we go, a testimony that I was crucifies with Christ and the life I now live is no more I but Christ in me (Gal 2.20). The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is contrary to Life, it is the choosing of what is good or bad based on our impression, it is living an independent life without reference to the Holy Spirit. It is the ability to decide what is good or bad regardless of the opinion of God. I like us to understand that the tree of knowledge is not a bad tree, it has goodness in it but the good and bad is sin before God because the source is flesh.
We must therefore carry our cross daily else we would wander into the trap of the devil again, while he cannot claim ownership on our Spirit, he can prompt us to act according to natural goodness which is sin, doing so it putting the cross aside and choosing by ourselves, such choices may be from emotion, experience, influencesocietal norms etc but all is sin before God and that is why whosoever would live Godly would suffer persecution as we don’t see from the prism of the world judging things from good and bad rather from the Spirit seeking things of life that has eternal value. Simply put we should not strive to do good thing, we shouldn’t try to be nice, kind or even loving as everything of our natural life Is sin including love., we should always strive to carry the cross, should the cross lead us to the path of kindness and what the world regards as love, so be it. I like to quote the apostle Paul saying 1 Cor 15:31-32 “31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.” May the lord grant uslight.
