1 Chro 4.10 a And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast,

Words of the Ministry:

Today we would be considering the request of Jabez, a man born in sorrow but who turned the tide with his short but powerful prayer. Yesterday we saw him praying the Lord’s prayer and one of the matters we emphasized was that he called God the God of Israel because his desire wasn’t selfish and his motive was not to please self. Jabez called on the God of Israel asking God to bless him indeed and enlarge his coast. Again, we can from this request peep into the heart of Jabez, remember the account said even while under a curse, he was more honorable than his brethren yet he wasn’t satisfied not because of covetousness and pride of Life rather because of others, his neighbors, those around him, the poor and the less privileged.

The bible teaches that the earth is the Lord and the fulness thereof and there is nothing too difficult for God to do. In 3 Jhn 1.2, the apostle said, he wished above all things that the saints prospered and be in health, the apostle writing under the influence of the Holy Spirit reaffirmed the will of God to prosper not only in our soul but also materially. The word says the blessing of God makes rich and adds no sorrow. In other words, the antidote to the problem of Jabez was in the hands of the Lord. He had a limited blessing with added sorrow, he sought the God of unlimited blessing, Jehovah El-Shaddai who blesses without sorrow added.

Dear saints, the bible teaches that by strength shall no man prevail. We must therefore seek God in our time of need as he is ever willing to answer but from todays reading, we must check our heart, why do you want the blessing, we must check our situation, are we blessed indeed or having some negative experiences added. We have seen that God’s blessings doesn’t add any sorrows with it. If your situation is always with sorrow, something might be wrong, the blessing may not be from God or you may be under the influence of the enemy. When our heart is right, our request flows naturally and our God would be more than ready to answer us, may the Lord grant us light.
