Theme: The prayer of Jabez (5)
Topic: Beware, the enemy is lurking around.

Today’s Reading:
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
1Ch 4:10 …… and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
Words of the Ministry:
Yesterday we saw the heart of Jabez and his prayers, how he sought the great provider, Jehovah El-Shaddai for a blessing without sorrows. We did say although he was blessed before seeking God, his blessings were tainted with many sorrows. As I did emphasize, the prayer of Jabez was kingdom centered, he prayed not just for his need or for show but to meet the needs of others. Today, I intend to consider the next line of Jabez prayer, he asked that the hand of God would be with him that God should keep him from evil that he may not be troubled by it. As we consider that line in Jabez prayer, we see a direct similarity with the Lord’s prayer, which says lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil.
It is not a coincidence that the prayer for protection and deliverance immediately follows the request for God’s provision both in the prayer of Jabez and the Lords ‘s prayer because the devil is always against those kingdom prayers, he loves to deny the saints of their request, this he does by attacking them or attacking their request. We can therefore say the victory of a believer is not limited to having a good intention as good intentions would still face stiff oppositions from then enemy. We are therefore expected to fight the fight of faith, we must labor in prayers like Jabez not just rendering kingdom prayers to God but warfare prayers against the enemy that wants to either tempt us to go against God’s will even using God’s blessings or wanting to outrightly destroy us with his evil deeds.
Saints, this is a call to vigilance, seeking God with our whole heart, praying kingdom prayers but overlooking the place of conscious living against the wiles of the devil to introduce temptation and other forms of evil could be dangerous, as a result, many saints have experiences that seems as though the blessings of God has added sorrow but in reality, it is due to their looseness. When we say the blessings of God makes us rich without adding sorrows, we don’t mean the enemy is pleased with our blessing and would just watch us enjoy them, rather we mean any attack we experience after the blessing comes from the devil and not God, we mean that sorrow you are experiencing in your marriage, with your children, business, ministry etc is the devil and not God. You are expected to resist the devil to flee, knowing the God of provision guarantees victory, may the Lord grant us light.
