Words of the Ministry
We have been considering the matter of divine health, a lot has been said concerning God’s provision for our healing and the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. One of the several complaints I hear from many believers is that, if this were true, why are they still falling sick and remain sick? It gets so bad that some even put the blame on God saying its God’s will. They believe God may just want them to be sick to know how the sick feels or God is using their sickness to humble them or maybe it’s not God’s time. To both points, I would like to say that is just a figment of their imagination as the bible never portrays God as such a wicked father (Mat 7.11).
Concerning the reasons for sickness, although all sicknesses are traceable to the devil and the fall of man but not all sickness are directly caused by the devil as people fall sick due to their sinful lifestyle, what they eat, drink, how much they rest and sleep etc. it is therefore not true that God uses sicknesses to teach us a lesson or to make us know how other feel when sick. In the book of James, the apostle said if any is sick, they should call on the elders and if the sick has committed a sin, it would be forgiven him (Jam 5.14-16), by implication, sin is a possible reason for bodily sickness.
As we consider today’s reading, we see the Lord in Jhn 6.38 stating he came to do the father’s will, in other words, all we see Jesus do was the will of the father. As we look at the Life of Jesus as recorded in Acts 10,.38, the bible said he went about doing good because the will of God for mankind is good, defining the good, the author said, he went about healing the sick and casting out devils because God was with him. God being with him was also a confirmation of him doing the will of God and that further confirms that sickness isn’t God’s will for mankind.
Dear saints, do not be deceived by false teachers or drawn into self-condemnation by the devil. The devil comes sowing seeds that you are not good enough, your sins and past has eventually caught up with you, God is testing your patience or God is using you as an example to help others tomorrow, all the aforementioned is a lie from hell, Jam5.14-16 says even a sinful sick should be prayed for and not only would he be healed, his sins would also be forgiven, that suggests that your sins would not stop your healing but may bring it back (Jhn 5.14). There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus and if God gave us his only begotten son, how much more would he give us bodily healing, may the Lord grant us light.
