17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Words of the Ministry
Today as we continue with the week’s theme on divine health, I like to further consider what we began looking at yesterday which I called what we have. We saw the apostles healing the lame by the temple saying what they have they give to him and what they gave him was healing through the power of holy Spirit which they had in their Spirit. Today from the account of Jesus in Mathew 8.16-17, the bible said he delivered those oppressed of the devil and healed the sick using the word, this was said to be the fulfilment of Isiah’s prophecy of taking our infirmities and healing our sicknesses. We immediately realize that Isiah’s prophecy is therefore fulfilled by the spoken word of God as demonstrated by Jesus. Jesus healed all the sick, not even one escaped the healing power of God because they encountered the ever-powerful word of God (Heb 4.12).
From yesterday’s lesson although our emphasis was on the Holy Spirit, we again see that the apostles spoke against the sickness, they said the opposite of the negative situation, they said what they wanted to see, we see Peter and John saying rise and walk to a lame man, that was the word of God in that sense, speaking the will of God to a negative situation. We again see from our second reading that the Lord said he has given us his word. The same word with which he delivered the oppressed and healed all that were sick, the same word with which the apostles healed the sick during their earthly ministry, turning the whole world upside down. That same word has been given to us.
Saints, that is what we have, the ever-powerful and living word of God. It is speaking the word of God that make the written word become the living word. The 700 years old Prophecy of Isaiah (Isai 53.4) came alive immediately Jesus spoke the word in Mathew 8. 16-17, it also came alive all through the Acts of the Apostles when it was spoken and so would it come alive when you speak the word over that sickness today either for yourself or for others. Why not give the world what you have by speaking the word. By speaking the word against that negative sickness, you would be shinning the light, bringing glory to God (Mat 5.14-16), may the Lord grant us light.
