Words of the Ministry
We have seen the power of positive and negative confession and in the last two days we have also considered the way of progress, how to ensure we keep our tongues healthy , speaking right. We learnt that we are to 1. renew our minds 2. reckon ourselves dead and today we are to consider the third point which is habitual praying. Prayer is a central message of the bible, in fact the bible teaches that we should do it without ceasing. For the renewing of the mind and reckoning to have root, we must do it in prayers.
One of the several benefits of prayers is that it gives life to the word and makes our meditation a reality. Secondly, a conscious prayer life makes us aware of ourselves and helps to bridle our speech. David the psalmist prayed to God saying let his meditations of his heart and the words of his mouth be acceptable to God, to be acceptable means to be the will of God. He further prayed in the second reading that God should set a watch over his mouth, here we see David committing both his thought and his speech to God, that is to commit our mind renewal and reckoning our dead state to God, it is to admit that without God we can do nothing.
Saints as we learnt from David, we must pray deliberately that God helps our speech as many of us have been used to negative speaking over the years even before we met the Lord. We therefore need more than self-will or new resolutions to overcome the weakness. We must cultivate the habit of asking the Lord to have his way with our speech, to glorify himself with our tongues, as we do these, I believe God would glorify himself. Please keep in mind our once a moth physical meeting coming up tomorrow Sunday the 25th of February by 4pm, Christ is our life.
