28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. KJV

Words of the Ministry

Amen, in our last lesson we looked at how giving affects financial prosperity and we did emphasize that giving to the needy is not a magic wand that automatically commands financial release but that our reward may be monetary or a further work in progress in our organic salvation. Our salvation has two parts, judicial redemption and organic salvation, while our judicial redemption takes care of the price of death as a result of the sin of Adam and its satisfied by the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Eph 1.7), our organic salvation is a matter of conformity to the image and likeness of Christ which was God’s original intention for man, In other words, even if man did not fall, there still would have been need for our organic salvation which demands not the blood of Jesus but the life of Christ (Rom 5.10) typified by the tree of life in the garden. Through our organic union and lifelong salvation in the Christian life, we experience regeneration, renewing, sanctification, transformation and glorification.

Our financial prosperity is one of the means by which God achieves his organic salvation in life. Just like many of us can relate with our children, we make them do certain things or learn certain characters by using their object of love, a child that loves playing video games could be told if you are not done with your home chores you would not be permitted to play games, for the love of the game, the child does his home chores daily until he gets used to it, we do that to encourage them to read or clean their room etc. The goal of such parent isn’t to deny the child the fun he desires in order to inculcate in the child a life character that he doesn’t think he needs. So does the Lord use our object of love which in most cases is our finances as a lot of life’s comfort depend on it. So atimes when we face financial challenges in business and life in general, we learn to pray more often, give to the needy, be more creative, learn to approach people respectfully, study scriptures to know our right, etc by this, we see that we are being saved in life as our nature is gradually being transformed to the image of Christ.

Another typical example could be that of a hard working brother who believes he earned his money through hard work and never gives to the poor, though he earns well, he struggles financially as the devourer attacks his finances through sickness, vehicle faults and pending contracts.  if such a brother that God has been trying to reach and discipline concerning over dependence on human strength and the need for liberality hears a sermon on the power of giving and how it open doors financially, should he decide to give in obedience and the contract he sought over few years was awarded, the health challenge disappears and he doesn’t experience the usual financial crisis. If he is not careful, he would see the provision as a result of his giving and may not see the need to overcome the idol of money or shift his focus on God and be more liberal to the needy. It even gets worse if such experience of provision is shared as a testimony, many times the emphasis would be on the financial miracle because he gave or on the anointing of the pastor and the God of such ministries rather that the organic growth God expects, so what we call the testimony could be likened to toy that our children get when they behave well while the real testimony is character formation. Check with your experience, have you not be choosing the toy over the life lessons, could that be why you move in circles of financial inadequacy over the years. Our memory verse says all things work for our good, even your current financial crisis, there is a good God wants to achieve, why not seek him out.
