Topic: The seed of Dominion in Eden

Memory Verse: Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Today’s Reading: Gen 1:26-28

26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Words of the Ministry:

Yesterday we saw the meaning of kingdom invasion, today we intend to consider the seed of this kingdom invasion from the life of Adam. Yesterday, I made mention that Jesus introduced his ministry by saying the kingdom of God is at hand. As we read our today’s reading, we would begin to see that Jesus’ message wasn’t something new and neither was it an after thought because of the fall of man rather it was always God’s intention that his will be done on earth, that the earth would be like the kingdom of God. That mankind would rule the earth as kings having dominion.

In Gen 1.26-28, we see God saying he intends the created man should have dominion over the earth, in verse 27 the bible said the created man was in his image and likeness and verse 29 says the created man was to subdue the earth, God blessed Adam to have dominion over the earth. So as we juxtapose all of these verses, we come to the realization that God in creating Adam made a man having his image and likeness in other to subdue the earth and have dominion over the earth. Here we see a seed as Adam was the first man, he was to exercise authority on behalf of God as God’s delegated authority, he was like the king of the earth and he was expected to bring the life of God after eating from the tree of life into earth subduing it and invading it for God as an extension of heaven, that is the seed of a king’s domain which we call a kingdom.

Unfortunately, Adam fell and lost his dominion, the bible then records how God began a new race with Noah,  in Gen 9.1 we see God again blessing Noah just as he did Adam but this time the phrase “have dominion” is now missing as the ingredient for that dominion was no more within the reach of man, the ingredient being the tree of life in the middle of the garden (Gen 2.9, 3.22-24). As we read further in Genesis, we see that again Noah failed under the influence of Alcohol and God called a new race through Abram who later became Abraham, he too was blessed by God (Gen 12.1-3) like Noah was but again we notice that there was no mention of dominion. From this point forward there was no mention of Kingship and kingdom, God remained king over the earth and continually was in search of a crop of men who would usher in his kingdom, this continued until the days of the children of Israel which we would be considering tomorrow. Please keep a date with us. Happy New Year.
