Words of the Ministry:

Amen, today we proceed with our life capsule on Godly parenting, having looked at some fundamentals which included the use of can and discipline, time management, being a Godly example, raising children with a view of presenting them to the Lord, we would be looking at another crucial need for Godly parenting. It is so important that it cannot be overlooked and that is the element of praying for our children. The bible particularly encourages us to acknowledge God in all that we do (Pro 3.6)

Some may wonder why I left prayer until a later time, well many today have cultivated the habit of transferring their responsibilities to God, so they blame God for everything, expecting God to give them children, feed the children and even train the children, while they take credit for every positive outcome, they blame God at all negative occurrences, for allowing the devil to have his way. That is the religious situation we find the church today.  A situation where parents don’t have time for their children, they give them mobile phone and tablets to watch YouTube and play games, they leave them at the mercy of a maid that wasn’t properly brought up herself. Such situation even with prayer may not work. As we pray expecting God to act, we must play a deliberate role towards proper upbringing. We should be careful with the foundation of our children because when destroyed, there is little left we can do.

The matter of prayer is paramount and must not be underestimated, regardless of how well we train our children, we need to realize that beyond the physical world, our children also interact with the spiritual, we also need to realize that while we can assess our children externally from their daily disposition, there is a lot going on in their mind that we don’t know, while we have such beautiful plans and dreams for our children, the devil too has terrible and evil plans for them.  A parent is meant to be an intercessor, you are meant to be a burden bearer for your children, you shape the outcome of their destinies through prayer, you don’t just carry them for 9 months in your womb, you have to carry them forever in your prayers, you avoid having a negative surprise by ensuring you intercede for them today even from the womb, the Children need not just a playing father but a praying father. They must from their youth be strong and have the knowledge of God (1Jhn 2.13).

Today’s reading states the heart is desperately wicked; we can’t know it but God can reveal the secret of the heart (Dan 2.22). The path each child would follow in destiny would also be revealed as we pray for them, this helps us to properly guide them. Most negative characters we see in adults today could have been tamed if the parents were prayerful and watchful. Saint of God, prayer is the key, we must prat without ceasing.
