Topic: Receiving the Power from on High
Today’s Reading: Acts 2:39
39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off — for all whom the Lord our God will call.” NIV
Words of the Ministry:
Yesterday we labored on the promise of the Holy Spirit and we stated it is a dependable promise. A lot was said concerning the importance of the power of the Spirit and the limitations of our natural strength without the Holy Spirit. We said for us to carry out the assignment given to us by the master, it is a must we exercise the power from on high as the power is meant for service. Today we would attempt to highlight how we can receive this Holy Spirit baptism.
I want to strongly emphasize that since the day of Pentecost that the first set of disciples tarried to receive the baptism of power, we are no longer expected to tarry, the power of the spirit is readily available for us today, to receive the baptism of power, you must be born again and believe (Jhn 3.3-5, 7.38). In addition, we must take the following steps:
- The Prayer of faith: Reading Luk 11.9,13, we would realize that our father is more than willing to give us the Holy Spirit if we ask. It must be done in faith knowing that God hears us, and he is a rewarder of those that seek him in Sprit and truth.
- By Laying on of Hand.: The bible is full of such examples especially in the Acts and some Epistles, Act 9.17,19.6. Through the laying on of hands, believers get to receive the baptism of power.
- You must hunger and thirst: We must hunger to have more of God, the beatitudes in Mat 5 says blessed are those that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. For us to enjoy the fullness of God’s power, we must continually hunger and thirst.
Some may ask, how many times can I receive the baptism of power? Unlike the salvation experience which we experience once in our lifetime. The baptism of power could be experienced severally as we see the need for it. Like we learnt, it is for service and as we serve, we see the need for more of God’s miracle working power to actualize supernatural feats in life and ministry. The Apostle after the baptism didn’t have to tarry again but as they ministered, they were continually filled as Jesus promised Jhn 7. 37-39. So, they were filled again and again in Acts 4.7-8, 29-31. The bible admonishes that should be our condition, we should always be drunk in the spirit Eph 5.18, our life and ministry should be an outflow of the spiritual river in us. Amen, please keep in mind our Peniel Encounter meeting for the month of November, it’s a special Peniel meeting coming up on the 25th and 26th of November by 4pm daily.
