Words of the Ministry

We have been considering the subject of forgiveness and we did consider forgiveness as a debt that we must be willing to pay, we did say if we don’t forgive our heavenly father too would not forgive us. We looked at the parable of the unforgiving servant whose master had to withdraw his forgiveness because he did not forgive his fellow servant who owed him less than he owed his master. The master committed him to tormentor due to his wicked and ungrateful heart of unforgiveness, we also learnt that such tormentors are demons and unclean spirit.  Emphasis was made that when we live in unforgiveness, most times our challenges are self-made from demonic attacks and not witches and wizards as many of us like to state.

Today we would be considering our best example of forgiveness, the bible says we should look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. We would notice all through scripture that Jesus forgave people even unto his death on the cross, for want of time and space I won’t be able to reference all instances of Jesus’ forgiveness but I like to comment on John 18 (read verse 1-11). The account said on the night before his crucifixion, Jesus was to be arrested and a band of soldiers, servants of the priest, Pharisees and his disciple Judas came to arrest him at gethsemane. While this happened, Peter one his disciples got angry, pulled his sword and stroke the ear of Malchus but Jesus rebuked him saying the cup the cup which my father hath given me, shall I not drink it (Jhn 18.11).

Saints, while Peter saw soldiers, Judas etc, Jesus saw the cup the father has given him. Judas was just a mail man as the actual sender was the father. We must set the Lord before us knowing that all things work together for our good (Rom 8.28). While many of us see our wicked spouse, business partner, wicked mother in-law, unreliable friend, all we ought to see it God at work to improve our character, express love through us, shine his light of forgiveness through our attitude. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God ( Mat 5. 8), we should not always see Judas, Jews or soldiers, atimes God allows us to pass through wrongful treatments and challenges to improve on our character, to perfect us. For us to enjoy such blessedness we must have a pure heart free from prejudices. If we have a pure heart like Moses, Jesus or Stephen we would certainly see God in all that we encounter.
