Theme: Why wait? (4)

Memory Verse: Heb 13:8

8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. KJV

Topic: Anti-Deliverance Agents (3)

Today’s Reading: John 5:7-10

7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”  9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” NKJV

Words of the Ministry:

Today we would examine another anti-deliverance called religion. By religion I don’t mean Christianity or Islam rather I mean serving God without Christ. Today we see a sad scenario of large auditoriums turning from being churches to religious centers, 2 Tim 3:5 says “5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” This was said in references to the occurrences of the last days. Today many have a form of Godliness but deny power to live a Godly life. We have been considering the case of the man at the pool of Bethesda, from today’s reading we see the Jews questioning him, first question was who healed him, and the second was whether it was even lawful to be healed on the Sabbath day.

As we examine the case of the man at the pool who was healed, we again see a similar situation in the church, the reason many are not healed or suffer delay to answered prayers is firstly because they don’t even believe God can do miracles despite being called believers. They tend to attach every act of God to the devil, they seem to question every miracle saying are you really sure it is God, they are more bothered about being denominationally right than being Jesus right? The second category is of those that would ask if being healed on Sabbath day was even right, the implication of that is like asking if an individual is holy enough to get answers to prayer, if a certain brother has sowed enough seed, served enough, prayed enough or met the churches membership conditions. religion exalts the doctrine and dogmas of the church above Christ. The church that says come as you are, Jesus would save and set you free, that same church would again say you are not good enough to be healed, you don’t have enough faith for a miracle. Sin consciousness is a major tool in the mindset of religious people.

Dear saint, are you being pointed to your church and denomination instead of Christ. Has your standard shifted from the bible to the dress code of your church, have you suddenly become a judge of who qualifies for God’s blessing, do you rate spirituality by works and good deeds? Have you been made to believe you are not qualified for God’s blessings except your pastor says so? Don’t be deceived, the only sacrifice acceptable to God is the eternal sacrifice of Christ. You don’t need good deeds, assignments, and work of penance to enjoy what your heavenly father has freely given you, the Christian walk is a walk of faith. The author of Hebrews speaking on the right of a believer said in Heb 11:6 “6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” May the Lord grant us light.
