Theme: Why wait? (5)
Memory Verse: Heb 13:8
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. KJV
Topic: Jesus is same today
Today’s Reading: John 5:7-10
7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
We have taken some time to consider the life at the pool of Bethesda which we said is a type of the church life also referred to as a house of mercy, we saw the prevailing situation of many saint’s troubled with various challenges, hanging in church and hoping for a supernatural intervention someday. We also considered some anti-deliverance agents like self-comfort, traditions of men and religion. We said those anti-testimonies have been the reason for many unanswered prayers in the church. Today, I would like to consider Jesus as the same healer, provider, deliverer and answer to every need of man especially for the saints.
As we read the bible we see the Lord doing great miracles, signs and wonders, we see him breaking protocols to heal the sick, like in the case of the man in John 5, he was a sinner yet he got his healing, we see instances of those that just touched his clothes and they were healed, some enjoyed his divine provision despite not believing In his ministry, they ate bread and fish, others got their dead raised to life, eyes healed and so were the lepers cleansed. As we see some of such accounts, we may want to say yes it happened so easily, but it was in the bible days. Some give excuses like I committed a sin, I am not good enough, we are in the end times and maybe God wants me to learn from my suffering, I like to point you to the character of Jesus, he never left anyone sick because they sinned and neither did he put any sickness on any man to teach his doctrines, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
If the unsaved are celebrating his power and deliverances how much more, you his disciple. The feeling we are not good enough is the major reason many are still bound, the memory verse says he is same yesterday, today and forever. In Mathew 7.7, we are commanded to ask and we would receive, in Hebrews 11.6 we are told to ask in faith that he rewards those that seek him, I like to encourage you to look away from yourself and look into the word of God, the bible says we are God’s children and as our father he won’t give us stone for bread or serpent for fishes. James 4:2 says “2 You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.” Many of us instead of asking, condemn ourselves, blame the church and quarrel with God. Ask and you shall receive, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. May God grant us light.
