Words of the Ministry:

Today we would be looking at another classic example of an individual that positioned herself for a miracle and the lessons the encounter affords. We are considering the story of the Canaanite woman (Please read Mat 15.21-28), the account says a certain Canaanite woman came to Jesus crying to him, saying in a loud voice, Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on me. She persisted but the Lord ignored her, it became so loud that even the disciples of the Lord urged him to send her away, eventually the Lord answered her that he was only sent to the household of Israel, that didn’t deter her resolve as she took the Lord on with his example until eventually she got what she wanted.

Looking at the example of the Canaanite woman, we can draw some light that could better position us for a miracle. She as a Canaanite during the earthly walk of Jesus was outside the common wealth of Zion, like Jesus said, his ministry was then to the Israelites, by human standards, she didn’t qualify for an intervention nor had a right to use the name thou son of David at all because she wasn’t a Jew. Her case became worse when the disciples instead of pleading on her behalf asked the Lord to send her away as she was a nuisance to them already. So is the case of many today, our enjoying the miraculous is not a matter of works, by works we may not be qualified but grace opens the door, we must approach God on the basis of grace and mercy to move his hands. Your situation may be like that of the woman who the disciples further discouraged, the saints may also discourage you, making you see reasons the Lord would not bless you, judging you based on your past and comparing their natural Love to God’s unfailing love.

The woman looked past all the accusations and limitations, she engaged the Lord in a lengthy conversation even after the Lord said no, she knew the Lord, she knew he was the Lord of glory, full of mercy and love. Many todays don’t know their God and that’s why they don’t do exploit, they don’t know him personally and as a result can’t make adequate demands.  Another man called Hezekiah during the time of Isiah was told he would die, he went to God because he knew his God and God extended his days by 15 years. The issue with many believers is that they don’t even know God and that is why they don’t negotiate until they get an answer, Arch. Bishop Idahosa once said, if your faith says yes, God would not say no. To experience a miracle, we must have a faith that doesn’t say no, we must ensure we are not approaching the Lord based on our works and deed rather based on his grace and love, may the Lord grant us light.
