Today’s Reading:

Let brotherly love continue.2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. KJV
Words of the Ministry:
Today we continue with our lesson on experiencing the miraculous. I would be considering the case of a woman called Tabitha also called Dorcas (please read Acts 9.36-43), Tabitha was a wonderful woman, she was a philanthropist who gave to the poor and down trodden. The account said she was full of good works and alms deeds She got sick and died, after her death, the people washed and kept her in the upper room hoping for a miracle. On hearing Peter was at Joppa, they sent two men to him to come down immediately hoping to get a miracle for Tabitha.
Peter came and was shown some of the good deeds Tabitha did while she was alive, the clothes she sewed for the widows and the poor. Peter was also told of the other various good deeds she did. On seeing and hearing all Tabitha did, Peter was moved and he prayed for her, Tabitha came back to life after the prayers and the people rejoiced. There are several lessons to learn from the life of Tabitha, when we look into the account, we see a saint that loved the Lord by loving the brethren. She related with the poor and widows not because he had an ulterior motive of what she wanted to gain but because she had a genuine love for the Church.
The bible encourages us to do good to those around us including strangers as by doing so we may entertain angles which in turn leads to supernatural interventions. It is worthy of note that despite being dead, those around Tabitha hoped for a miracle for her, she eventually enjoyed the miracle because of her deeds. Miracles are gotten when the saints pray in unity, Tabitha’s case is a good example of united prayer. The brethren prayed and she enjoyed the benefit of her good deeds.
Many believers are selective in doing good, they do good only to the pastorate and individuals they believe can help them in turn, to them, being good to the saints is a kind of investment, a give and take business. Our good deeds provoke miracles even without us praying, having faith or fasting as those we touch genuinely pray, the heavens are open for a miracle, the account of Tabitha who was dead is a typical example. Check yourself, imagine you have gone to be with the Lord, what would those around you say about you, can we say you truly loved the saints, was your display of love conditional, did you give alms to the poor to exploit them? may God grant us light.
