Life Capsule for Today 29th July, 2023
Theme: Sonship (7)
Memory Verse: Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Topic: Joint heirs with Christ
Today’s Reading: Heb 2.8-9
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Rev 5:12-13
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
Words of the Ministry:
Today as we come to the conclusion of the theme, we would be looking at the matter of Joint Heirs, a heir is a person legally entitled to the property or rank of another on that person’s death, as we ponder on this, knowing we are sons of God just as Jesus was and as a result we are joint-heir just as the bible describes us in Rom 8.17 but that brings the question of inheritance as the heir only has right to the inheritance at the demise of the father or parent but in this sense, we know God would not die as he lives forever so how then does the believer partake of the inheritance. As we consider this, we would further appreciate the redemptive work of Christ. Christ dyeing on the cross played the role of both the father and the son to bring us into our inheritance, as the son he died as our substitute and as the father he died to enable us partake of the blessing.
In Rev 5. 12-13, we see the lamb that was slain receiving the inheritance as an heir, on the one hand he was the son as the heir on the other hand he was the father that died to make way for the son and us to receive the inheritance. We can therefore say although God is three persons, God is also one (Col 2.1, Deut 6.4, Phil 2.6) The verse made a list of a few things, power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. As joint-heirs we also partook of this as the bible says we have received all spiritual blessing in heavenly places through Christ (Eph 1.3), not only that we also know that this is a fore taste of the full blessing which we would enjoy reigning with the Lord as kings and priests in the coming age.
Dear saints, what a mystery, God in bringing back what Adam lost became the son in flesh. We through his death have become the many sons of God having all what Adam lost and more. Again, we see that whereas Jesus walked in the fulness of his glory, many of us are not necessarily enjoying it. The bible in Romans says the whole world groans waiting for our full manifestation as sons. We are expected to express glory, honor, power, wisdom and blessings in all the sphere of life and at the end reign with Christ, halleluiah for the goodnews.
