Memory Verse: Rom 10:11
11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” NKJV
Topic: Ruth Enters Christ Genealogy and continues his incarnation
Today’s Reading: Ruth 4:13-17
13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son. 14 Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel! 15 And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him.” 16 Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him. 17 Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David. NKJV
Words of the Ministry:
Today we come to the conclusion of our lesson on Ruth, we saw yesterday how the lord came into humanity through incarnation to be our kinsman and by so doing he was qualified to redeem the saints where our natural kinsman could not. We saw the benefit of Christ redeeming the church and bringing her into his riches. We did learn that our old man died with him and we are risen with him to bring forth many sons, this was typified in Ruth 4.10 and fulfilled as a command in Mat 28.19-20. Today I like to comment briefly of Ruth entering the genealogy of Christ and she continuing the incarnation of Christ.
The bible records that as Boaz redeemed Ruth, she became pregnant and she had a son called Obed who later became the father of Jesse who was the father of David. Reading through the genealogy of Jesus we see that through the union of Boaz and Ruth, the Messiah could come into humanity Mat 1.1-6. Saints, again we can see a great typology here, the Church we said typifies Christ, the redeemed from the natural life married to Christ to enjoy his riches but not only that but to bring many sons to glory. Believers both individually and corporately has entered into the genealogy of Christ, we have been redeemed by the Lord and we are also expected to bring forth fruit to further populate his kingdom.
Paul praying in Gal 4:19-20 said “19 My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you”. Here we see Paul as an individual Ruth that had been redeemed having many sons whom he again was traveling and praying that they bring forth Christ. The implication is that Paul was praying that through his own seed, men should again see the incarnate Christ. Ruth entering into the genealogy of Jesus did not only bring forth Jesus but in the same genealogy, there was a continuation of the birth of the incarnate Jesus through spiritual re-birth.
Saints, we have been redeemed to save others through gospel preaching and teaching. The word that we teach is Spirit and Life, as we minster the word to the redeemed, the incarnate Christ in them individual and corporately would eventually find expression until the glory of the knowledge of God would fill the earth as water covers the sea, until the kingdom of God is fully established and revealed in the midst of men. We have been saved not just to be redeemed but to lead many to salvation, to ensure we continue the genealogy of Christ and his incarnation.
