Topic: Eating the Lord to be like him

Today’s Reading: Rev 4:2-3

2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. NKJV

Rev 21:9-12

9 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. NKJV

Words of the Ministry:

Today we come to the conclusion of this week’s theme, we would be considering the effect of eating the Lord seeing it is of great importance to God’s economy. We previously learnt that God in the garden placed man before two tree asking him to eat, in the gospels we see the Lord presenting the same offer of eating and in revelation we see again the tree of life which believes are meant to eat. The economy of God shows us that God always had the intention to make us like himself in life and nature but not in the God head, to achieve this, he presented himself a food hoping to enter man, become man ‘s constituent and eventually transform man from within.

In the book of romans 8.29 the bible says “29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” This we see through the revelation of the bible and the reason for the several experience we have as we walk with the Lord. At salvation, the Spirit of God enters into our spirit and begins a lifelong work of sanctification and transformation and eventually consummating it as glorification, this he achieves through continuous guidance and dealings. Our God’s goal is not to make us good people as there are many good people that qualify as good men by human standards, moreover if we could achieve God’s goal without the Holy Spirit, there wouldn’t have ben need for the resurrection., What God wants to make us is God-men, believers in the image and likeness of God. As we go through a number of challenges we need to realize that God the potter is making something out of our lives.

I like how Paul renders it 2 Cor 4:7-12 “7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed — 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.”. looking at our today’s reading we see that in eternity future both God and man become one worth both having the same image and likeness both looking like a jasper stone. Isn’t that comforting that what Adam lost in the garden we would again gain through, Christ is not just our life food but our destiny, amen.
