Words of the Ministry:

We learnt earlier that as a result of Jesus’ resurrection, he could now access man’s spirit, he now co-habits with man (Gal 2.20). Man that was previously separated from God due to sin, guilt and fear does not only have access into God’s presence but also dwells with God having constant fellowship with him in the Spirit. Christ in our Spirit makes us God’s temple but not only that, it also makes us to bear fruit pleasing to God. The New covenant demands appear difficult and when one looks at it from the human perspective it appears impossible as no man could keep the law, how much more the improved demands brought in by Jesus. A good illustration is Adultery, in the old testament, one had to commit the act physically to constitute Adultery while in the new covenant, an immoral thought is seen as adultery, same goes for murder etc. So we see a shift from outward physical sin to an inward sin even in our minds, when one is faced with such demands, the question would be, who can live righteous.

Thanks to the indwelling Christ, no man could meet the demand of God’s righteousness as it was beyond the ability of sinful man and that was why Christ came, not just to show us the possibility of living the life in 33 years but to also dwell in us to enable us live the life. Christ dwelling in our Spirit is the way to liberation from the flesh. Any attempt to overcome the flesh like the Pharisees would end up in frustration but when we turn to Christ in our Spirit, we have victory. The memory verse says the fruit of the Spirit is… and it enumerated them, one fruit several expressions, in John 15:8 “8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples: when we read further in verse 10 we realize that the fruit is to keep his commandment and to do this we only need to abide in him. When we realize that the Christian life is not a possibility without Christ, we learn to trust in Christ in us.

Saints, we have seen that the path is narrow and the journey is far, without Christ we can do nothing. Only Christ is pleasing to God (Mat 3.17, 17.5), the bible says God is satisfied with him, for us to live a life that pleases God we need to present Christ to God. To do that, we must realize our inability and trust him to express his life in us. To maximize our rest in Christ we must be tired of trying to help ourselves (Mat 11.28). A simple sincere prayer like God help me to love my neighbor, to express your forgiveness can go a long way to making us free from unforgiveness. Marriage could be a living hell without Christ so is managing our temper, ministry, prayer etc. Without Christ, Christianity becomes mere religion, what God wants is to see Christ in us, only Christ satisfies the father, amen.
