Words of the Ministry:
It has pleased the lord to challenge our hearts on the benefits of the resurrection; this week we began looking into the mind of God as to why Jesus had to rise from the dead. One may ask if it wasn’t enough that he died for our sins but when one looks at the wider picture of God’s economy, we then realize that God’s intention was not just to forgive man, he through the death and resurrection of Christ is bringing man back to his original plan. We learnt that one of the first benefits was that Christ rose for our justification. Through justification, all that believe are passed from death to life, free from condemnation and declared righteous before God. We also learnt that the resurrection of Christ made us the many dwelling places, When Christ was on earth he was the unique dwelling place but through his death and resurrection, he has made us the several dwelling places, we are the several mansions in whom God lives, God live in us, we are the fulfillment of the temple, he lives in our Spirit (Jhn 4.21).
Today we intend to look at another benefit of Jesus’ resurrection which is sonship, Christ rose to make many sons of God, when Christ was on earth, just as he was the unique temple, he was also the unique son but God in his plan wanted several sons, to achieve this, Christ had to die, he had to be planted like a farmer plants a seed to reap a harvest. In John 12:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit”. Jesus was planted and rose the third day to bring forth many sons of God, we have the same Spirit, by adoption, God has brought us into his love. The bible says we owe our new birth not to the flesh nor the will of man but to God (Jhn 1.13).
We are joint heirs with Christ and fellow partakers of his riches in glory (Rom 8.17). As Children we are joint heirs with Christ, that speaks to our relationship with God, we can now call him father. Jesus was the only begotten and the natural heir of the father (Heb 5.5), his inheritance is all of God’s creation, all that is in existence (Heb 1.2). We believers being a co-heir means we share in Jesus’ inheritance, what belongs to Jesus belongs to us, in the gospels, he gave us his glory (Jhn 17.22), then he gave us his riches (2 Cor 8.9) and now all things (Heb 1.2). We are one with Christ all that belongs to him belongs to us, that is the benefit of adoption, that is one of the reasons he rose, glory to God, now I can cry Abba Father.
