Words of the Ministry:
Yesterday, we began to look at the benefits of his resurrection and the first thing we considered was that it was for our justification. Through Jesus’ resurrection, the sinful Adamic man that was bound by sin and death was made free from the demands of sin and death, Jesus death did pay for our sin, a payment no animal blood could fulfil. His resurrection now accomplished our justification, we are not just free from the penalty of Adam’s sin, we are also justified, free form condemnation and guilt, we are now declared righteous. Today we intend to proceed on our lesson on why Jesus resurrected by looking at another benefit which is for our regeneration.
Regeneration is the addition of God’s divine Spirit into man’s Spirit. It is through regeneration that man begins to bear the fruits of the Spirit. Jesus during his earthly walk after informing his disciples of his impending death comforted them not to be troubled (Jhn 14.1), he said he was going to his father to prepare a place for them so that where he is they would be also. The Lord said this in reference to his dwelling in us (Jhn 14.17), Many take this passage to mean God is preparing a mansion in heaven for them but a careful study of the bible reveals its not correct. For instance, in the light of John 2.16-21.
From the scriptures, we see that Jesus was the actual dwelling place (temple) of the father but through his death and resurrection, the body of Christ has increased to being his corporate body which is the church, including all regenerated believers through his resurrection (1 Pet 1.3), in Christ resurrection the Church is the body of Christ which is the house of God (1 Tim 3.15, 1 Pet 2.5, Heb 3.6, Eph 2.21-22), and the body of believers is Gods temple (1 Cor 3.16-17). We can therefore say the many rooms (abode, dwelling places) are therefore the many members of Christ body (Rom 12.5) as we can see in John 14:23 Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ brought us into union with God. This was an experience Adam never had, he enjoyed the fellowship of God in the cool of the day but God could not enter his Spirit. Same was the condition of our father Abraham, Moses, Elijah and the entire human race until the death and resurrection of Christ, Hallelujah, we are born of God, he lives in us, we are God’s physical address on earth, we are his dwelling place. Our spirit now has an eternal companion in Christ, that is what Jesus meant when he told the disciples in John 14.1, do not let your heart be troubled…….i go to prepare a place for you. We are one with God, Glory to Jesus.
