Theme:  Soul Winning (2)

Text: Luk 16:22-26

22  And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23  And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24  And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25  But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26  And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Memory Verse: John 3:16-17

16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. NIV

Words of the Ministry

The book of Luke 16. 19-30 (please read), Jesus gave a story of a rich man and a poor man called Lazarus, the account was concerning the afterlife, life after death, both the rich and the poor have something in common and that is death. We would notice immediately that while on earth, the rich is known and had a name, from the account, his name wasn’t mentioned rather the name of the poor beggar Lazarus, we also notice that despite the ungodliness and wickedness of the rich man, he had so much wealth, he dressed in purple and fed well, this is another prove that the availability of wealth which many call prosperity is not an indication of Godliness.

Unfortunately, today, the standard of some Churches is materialism, how much money, cars, houses, building size and membership strength, while all of that can get you a name on earth, before heaven you are just a rich man, what grants you a name is how much Christ has saturated your soul.

The rich man died and was buried and Lazarus died and was carried to the bosom of Abraham. Many think death is the last bus stop, no, it’s a route to life either with God or damnation in hell and to the lake of fire. The rich man cried seeing himself in hell, he had much regrets but it was too late. He begged for water but couldn’t get a drop. Lazarus was in paradise while the rich man of some days ago had become a roasting man in hell. He cried, he cried bitterly but it was too late, dear saints now that you can reach out to that rich uncle, friend and colleague, do what you can now before he dies and goes to hell. In hell, the rich man became repentant but it was already too late. We see that no matter the prayers we pray for the dead, once dead, it’s too late if the individual never got saved. Now is the time to pray and preach before they die. It’s better to be hated but free of not witnessing to your loved ones.

The rich man cried, begged that Abraham send Lazarus or any other person from the dead to witness to his brothers but Abraham replied, it’s not possible, in as much as they have Moses and the prophet, they should listen to them. The implication of that is in as much as the unsaved have you and I who have been commission by the Lord to win souls and save them from the impending judgement on mankind, God is relaxed. He is comfortable believing you would witness the truth of his kingdom and judgement. The question now is, are you dependable, are you doing the work of an evangelist, can the Lord truly rest because you are in that family, school, ministry or business. Are you faithful and dependable, are those souls in your hand hopeful?
