Words of the Ministry

This week I would concentrate on the power of positive confession. While many Churches are observing the new year fast, it is very important to emphasize on the role our speech plays in the overall affairs of our lives.  The bible is full of stories of men and women that ate the fruit of their lips. The bible therefore admonishes us to choose right and speak right in order the reap the positive fruit of our words. Many, after prayers and confessing positive things into their lives and situation, they still use the same mouth with which they prayed to nullify their request. The permit the devil to put words into their mouth, they begin to confess negativity and eventually the exhibit unbelieve.

Our today’s reading is an instruction directed to Joshua when he took over the mantle of leadership after the demise of Moses. God told Joshuato ensure thebook of the law which today we would say is the word of God should not depart from his mouth but rather meditate on it days and night, then would he have good successes. We can see the order of the instruction; he was to keep saying what the word says and by doing so his thought process and mind would retain it and when that happens he begins to meditate on it and eventually his life would become successful in whatever he lays his hands on. Many believers have not seen the beauty and advantages of speaking the word of God audibly to their hearing. While we can easily read through scriptures or repeat it with our mind, reading it out audibly to our hearing helps to retain what we have heard and makes it more real to us. It also helps us to meditate on it, calling it to mind more easily.

Saints we need to remind ourselves that we are in a continuous battle and our mind is the greatest battle ground. 2Co 10:5 saysCasting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; The devil is in the business of injecting evil thought in the battle that  takes place in our mind, he does this severally until we begin to speak defeat and failure thereby nullifying what we initially believed.  That is the exact imagery of what happened in the temptation of Jesus, the devil brought the negative suggestion as a thought and the Lord responded by speaking what was written. We are to counter the several missiles of the devil by speaking the word to our hearing and in much speaking our mind begins to meditate on it and we respond to our mind by again speaking the will of God.
