Today’s Reading: Joh 3:19-21
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
Words of the Ministry:
Yesterday we saw the timely importance of the church as the light to this world that is deeply rooted in darkness, we saw that but for the light, the condition of the world would have become more chaotic. It then becomes a dilemma when we realize that the dying world groping in darkness hates the light because their deeds are evil. As we read through scriptures starting from the Old Testament to the New, we see that the people always hated God’s people, they killed the prophet, blackmailed them and tried to frustrate their ministries. Same with the New Testament, our Lord Jesus Christ despite his several works of power, healing the sick, raising the dead and doing all manners if miracles, the people still chose a hardened criminal over him, they called him a glutton and did all things possible to silence his ministry and apostles.
As today’s light of the world, you have been sent as a sheep among wolves, we must therefore not be surprised that those drowning under the oppression of the devil are the same ones hired by the devil against you. The bible makes us to understand that the disciple is not above the master, if they have hated our lord, they must hate you (Mat 10.16-25). We must therefore put on the whole armor of God as the world despite in need of light would continually fight the light because they are ruled by the prince of darkness, the evil one, but in all of these we are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us.
Dear saint, check with your experience, have you been facing opposition lately as you shine the light, this may be in your home with your unsaved spouse and relative, in your work place, among your colleagues, in school in the market place or even in a public vehicle, Don’t be discouraged , the world although lies in darkness hates the light because their deed are evil but here is our consolation, he that is in you has overcome the world. As God’s rescue agent, we can’t afford to fail because just as Jesus said, they don’t know what they are doing. As we continually strive to bring glory to our God, we must be prepared to face opposition from our arch enemy, the serpent who is using a human face as you colleague or neighbor, may the Lord grant us light.
