Words of the Ministry:

Saints, today we intend to consider another power of praise which is that it helps to encourage others. Through the week, we have looked at the power of praise from different angles, we learnt that God created man to praise him, we saw that praise leads to supernatural intervention, praise leads to humility and Godly focus, praise is also an anti-depressant as we saw that even our mental health is greatly helped through the power of praise. Today, we would look a little further to not only what praise does for us but also for others through us.

As we read the scriptures we see God instructing individual to tell certain stories to their coming generations, he is most time referred to as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in the psalms we see a row call of some of his goodness to the children of men especially to the Israelites. God allowed it as a pattern to encourage and remind the coming generation, in times of weakness and fear he reminds them through the testimonies of others what he has done, that in itself helps our faith and trust in God.

Today, when we read the bible, we see the stories of Job, Abraham, Daniel, Jonah, Jesus and others like Paul, Peter, James etc, when we see their struggles, challenges and how God intervened in their lives, it has a way of encouraging us to keep on with the journey. Bulk of our sermons today on patience make reference to persons like Hannah, Abraham and Simeon, that is because they trusted God, he answered them and they sang his praise, their testimony is now a means of encouraging those in similar situations that God would come through.

We as today’s believers should do same, we must learn to share over victories and testimonies both in our local churches and private fellowships, we must always tell of the goodness of God as that has a way of encouraging others. Many saints only share their fears and trials, they never see reasons to share their joy and testimony, that is a sign of ingratitude and self-centeredness. The psalmist in Psalm 103: 2-3 was reminding himself of the goodness of God, it was more like a rehearsal of what the Lord has done in his life, same should be our attitude, when the devil tries to bombard our mind with fear and anxiety concerning the future, we must rehearse the goodness of God in our lives, shalom.
