Words of the Ministry:

Saints, still on the matter of praise, we have learnt that God intervenes when his people praise him, we cited examples of Paul and Jehoshaphat, we also saw from our study yesterday that praise helps to properly calibrate our attitude, we said our attitude must be that of humility and Godly focus, we must learn to praise God always. When we read through the scriptures, we would see that Lucifer who was created to please and praise God but he eventually became proud because he began to focus on himself, so instead of praising he became proud. Saints, the matter of humility and praise is not a small matter, in every circumstance, we must learn to make God our focus.

Today we intend to see another benefit of praise and that is praise as medication. Our daily living come with its challenges and troubles, as Christians, we are not exempted from the day to day issues of life, in some cases, government policies could affect our businesses and future plans, that at times makes us depressed and moody, it looks as though we have lost our Joy, that is where the power of praise comes in. The bible teaches God inhabits the praise of his people (Ps 22.3) and in Ps 16:11”11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” While we know we are always in God’s presence as he dwells in our spirit, singing songs of praise and telling of his previous glorious deeds has a way of filling us with Joy everlasting and reassures us of his instant presence. Praising God sets us free from depression and heaviness.

Our mental health is  a major part of our life, many have backslidden, committed suicide or engaged in certain acts like drunkenness and sexual immorality just to fix their mental health issue, but what they don’t know is that even that is covered in the atonement, Isa 61:3 “3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” Christ cares about our mental health and has come to give a garment of praise for the spirit of mourning. A few praise and worship song, meditation on his past interventions or listening to a recorded song of praise has a way of lifting all our burdens. He said come to me, all of you that are tired of carrying heavy load, and I would give you rest (Mat 11.28), Jesus the burden bearer is just a praise away, amen.
