Today’s Reading: Joh 11:21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. ======
Joh 11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
Joh 11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
Words of the Ministry:
Today we would be looking at another reason why God may seem silent and we would be seeing that at times it’s because God is working out a greater testimony. I like the reader to read John 11 from verse 1 to end. Here we see the story of a man called Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha, they were loved by the Lord and we could even say Lazarus was a known friend of Jesus. Lazarus got sick and his sisters decided to call on his miracle working friend Jesus but to their surprise Jesus didn’t come over to heal his friend Lazarus until he eventually died. Mary and Martha were disappointed in the Lord just as many of us are most times, they would have asked each other that they thought Jesus really loved him, how could he do this, how could he delay, now he is dead, although they learnt the Lord has raised the dead in the past but this is 4 days already, certainly it is too late.
Many of us can relate with situations like that in our lives and around us, situations that seem like an emergency, we pray, fast, sow seeds, share the prayer request with others and eventually it seems to be too late. In Jhn 11.21, Martha told the Lord he was too late already, if only he came earlier, just maybe Lazarus wouldn’t have died but what they never knew was that Jesus wanted a dead situation to glorify God. In verse 43 and 44, for the first time in the history of the world, a man that had died for 4 days came back to life, healthy and strong. The miracle experienced by Lazarus made him popular and unique as we read in Jhn 12.9, people from far and wide wanted to meet the man that died for four days and was raised back to life, he became a celebrity overnight. While Jesus delayed, little did Lazarus and his sisters know that God was working out something greater than they could have ever imagined.
Dear saints, I don’t know what that situation is, you may feel the Lord doesn’t answer it according to you request or it is late forever, you may even feel it’s now impossible. I like to tell you that such delay from the Lord at times is what we need, because at such times, God is working out something greater than your request and by the time he is done, you would realize that God indeed knew what he was doing and what is best for you, are you discouraged, have you lost faith, are you considering compromise or do you have the impression God hates you? I like you to hold unto the word of God as even if he tarries, he would not tarry. May the Lord grant us light.
