Topic: God as Grace saving us from our sin
Today’s Reading: Tit 2:11-14
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Words of the Ministry:
As we probe our theme for the week, we come to another reality of God with us, that is the matter of God as grace enabling us to overcome sin and to live righteously. When the son of God was named, he was named Jesus and the reason was because it was said that he would save his people from their sin Mat 1.21), this he fulfilled not only by the redeeming work on the cross but by the power of the new creation that has brough his as Spirit into us. The Holy Spirit is with us so that we can overcome sin. The ability to live above worldly lust and sin is therefore one of the realities of God with us.
Jesus in John 14 promised the father would give us another comforter that would be with us forever, that comforter is the Sprit of God in our Spirit, that is the enabling grace to empowers us to rule over the flesh and walk victoriously in Christ. So we can see here that grace is not just a thing, it is a person, the Lord as the spirit with us forever. In Romans 6.14, the bible says sin shall no more have dominion over us because we are no longer under law but under grace, hallelujah, isn’t that glorious, we have been free from the power and dominion of Sin because God is with us. We can say no to theft, drunkenness, immorality, lies etc.
Dear saint, it is expected that we live a victorious life because we have what it takes, the Holy Spirit is in you, he is with you forever. We need to be God conscious to overcome sin, a man that wants to enjoy divine empowerment for miracles, for divine supply and protection must start by realizing that God is with him and if God is with him, he must live righteously and soberly because the God that is with him is Holy and hates unrighteousness. We can then see why many process their authority but never realize it, it’s because they don’t really believe God is with them because if truly you believe he is with you, you would live circumspectly.
