Act 19:11-12
11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
Words of the Ministry:
Today we conclude our series on divine encounter, and I like to comment on believer as living encounters. We would remember that we learnt that man is one of the three sources of encounters. We also saw Peter in yesterday’s lesson, a man that started by experiencing a divine encounter of miraculous catch of fishes later became a source of divine encounters to others after the Holy Spirit baptism. The acts of the apostles record the several miracles God did through him, when the sick met him they were made whole, the dead was brought back to life, the unsaved heard the gospel message and the carnal believers repented.
The indwelling Spirit and the infilling of the Spirit upon us is to change us into another man. Purpose of salvation is not to make us good men but God-men, men and women that answers the questions of our age and time regardless of our fields, for Peter he was a preacher, you could be a teacher, driver, mechanic, fashion designer or engineer, regardless of our fields, when men see us they should testify of having an encounter. We can see from our memory verse, we have been crucified in Christ and we live, yet not us but Christ in us. That is a mutual cohabiting, Christ and you living together, in 1 Cor 6.17, it says we are one spirit with the Lord, so if anyone encounters us, he should encounter Christ just as Jesus says when you see him we see God, so when anyone sees you, they should see God, they should encounter God, your meeting is therefore a divine encounter.
Today’s reading emphasizes we have been given power to trample on serpents and scorpions which represents devils and demons, the second reading shows us how Paul did so, the account said God wrought special miracles through him. Saints that should be your testimony, every encounter with you should be a divine encounter, a special miracle. Believing women should be a favor to their husbands (Pro 18.22), an employed Christian should be a source of prosperity to the organization just as in the case of Joseph. As a source of encounters, you are expected to live a supernatural life naturally. We don’t just give encounters; we should be a reference to what God can do with men. Check with your experience, does your testimony align with what God calls you. We are to fulfil the spiritual meaning of Isi 8.18 which says we you and your children are for signs and wonders. God told Abraham that through you his seed (in Christ) the nations of the earth would be blessed. May the Lord grant us light.
Bible in one year: Ezekiel 46-48
