Words of the Ministry

Jacob lived with Laban for 20 years and for those years he labored and was severally cheated, Laban changed his wages 10 times, he labored to get his wages and even when he got his wages of cattle and sheep, Laban Sons still persecuted him. His wife on the other hand didn’t give him peace, he was moving from one room to the other, among his wives and maids, so while he labored on the field during the day, on returning home he was not appreciated by Laban who was out to cheat him and at night he had to please his wives especially Racheal his will.  In Jacob we see a man who was just living life as it came and all these happened because he left the will of God, he wanted to help himself, he cheated his brother and since then has also been cheated, he was reaping what he sowed. Many todays are reaping what they have sowed, when you cheat your junior staff in the office, your maid, your neighbor, business partner or even the government, you are sowing a seed that would become a mighty tree, you must go back to restitute.

Jacob still found mercy before God, he had some encounters in Genesis 31 verse 3 and 13, God reminding him of his encounter at bethel where he did set up a pillar, God told him to return home and find peace. God is appearing to many of us today, yes we are children of God and we are under the new covenant but many of us have gone astray, we have gone our ways to pursue our will. Some because they have a lot to hide are hiding before God, God is pricking your heart, but you are saying no, maybe you think the cattle and sheep is all what God has to offer, many like Jacob do not know the only reason Laban did not eventually harm them is because of his mercy, Gen 31.24, God restrained Laban from harming Jacob.  That filthy business, relationship, or connection you call your life wire may eventually hurt you if you don’t repent.

Jacob eventually left Laban, but Laban still followed him because the will of Jacob, Racheal picked an item belonging to Laban, it was an idol. So even when Jacob decided to leave his past, his past still held unto him because he had a property of his past. Many today say they have repented but still benefit from their past sins, you still enjoy the benefits of your then sugar daddy or even mummy, you don’t go to the clubs but spend time on worldly songs and pornography on your phone. You still share bribes and gist with your unsaved friends about their worldly relationships etc, now you know why Laban would not let you go. Concerning Jesus, it was said the Devil came and found nothing (Jhn 14.30), what is that idol you are keeping, nursing or still hiding. To be free indeed, let go of your idols. May the Lord grant us light. Join us tomorrow as we feast together on the word at word feast.
