Mar 7:27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to castitunto the dogs.
John 6.51
Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Words of the Ministry
Today we continue with theme divine health by considering the story of a gentile woman whose daughter was ill. The account said the woman sought the Lord to deliver her daughter from a certain illness caused by a devil but Jesus refused at first saying she wasn’t covered by the covenant of Israel and therefore her daughter was not qualified for that healing which he called the children’s bread. The woman persisted and eventually Jesus seeing her faith delivered her daughter from demonic oppression. She became whole from that very hour. This all happen before the death and resurrection of Jesus.
From the story we first notice that although we learnt healing is in the atonement, it is particularly for those in the new covenant and whenever we see those outside the covenant enjoying God’s healing it based on the grounds of mercy and not a right. Secondly, we see that Jesus also defined healing figuratively as bread or in more simple terms food. That then suggests that healing is a daily provision God has for his children to meet their need as they make demands and lastly, we notice from the second reading in John 6.51 that Jesus is the actual fulfilment of the bread, he is not just the Children’s bread but the bread of life taking care of the various needs of the human life including health.
Saints we now see from the above, that positionally by virtue of salvation which is the way we access Christ as the bread of Life, we do have the covenant right to divine health. It is a matter of right as believers to live in health because we don’t need to go in search of healing as the healer lives in us. We are to make demands on Christ as the healing one who lives in our Spirit to release the healing we desire because we are in the covenant, we are his children of the new covenant and lastly, we have eaten him i.e he lives in us. Tell that sickness today that I partake of the health benefit of Jesus, I terminate your power over my body because I am a child of the covenant. May the Lord grant us light.
