Theme: Appreciating wilderness experiences (7)

Memory Verse: Isa 43:2 When you go through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not go over you: when you go through the fire, you will not be burned; and the flame will have no power over you.

Topic:  Our Glory outweighs our trials

Today’s Reading:

2Co 4:7-9

7  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9  Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

2Co 4:16 – 18

16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Words of the Ministry:

Today I intend to round off this week’s theme on the topic appreciating wilderness experiences. I strongly believe God has used it to further strengthen us and expose the lies and several tricks of the devil. Having spent some time on the strategy of Satan and the ways of victory, I like to comment on the benefits of going through the process, The beauty and fragrance our lives bear when we allow the Lord see us through the wilderness situations. We would notice from the story of Jesus that immediately after the temptations (Mat 4), angels came ministering to him and his fame went all about the country and that is not to mention his eternal reward and souls he won to the father. When we compare the several challenges he faced, we would come to no other conclusion that it pays to bears the pain and carry our cross while in our wilderness.

As we look at today’s reading, we see Paul Teaching the Church on the reality of our daily trials and temptations, He did say we have a treasure in us and as vessels, we go through a lot of pains, sufferings and trials but we must always realize that we are not forsaken and neither should we despair as we won’t be destroyed. We must therefore look away from the present discomfort and look unto God and the glory in us. This glory in us is the God of Glory himself who through our several trials breaks out his life in us. In other words, through the trials we overcome the flesh and his works and we eventually get further conformed to the image of his son (Rom 8.28-30). We can therefore say our wilderness experiences and trials is a means of entering into our destinies.

Dear saints, I wouldn’t know what you are going through, but I like you to know that God know about it and that our current pain is part of the package. Jesus did promise those that have had loses the would get 100 fold back and persecution (Mar 10.30). If our Lord and savior went through sufferings, its obvious we too would go through same (Jhn 15.20). We must therefore look unto Jesus at our trying times as friends may fails us, our spouses may reject us and even the Church may deny us but Jeus would never fails as he is always with us. The secret to victory therefore is to look away unto Jesus as written in Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. May the Lord grant us light.
