Topic: An unnamed man who gave his house for the Passover

Today’s Reading:Mar 14:12 -16

12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

13  And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

14  And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15  And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16  And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

 Words of the Ministry:

Today we would be concluding our lesson on silent labors, we have seen a number of persons both male and famale that labored for the Lord in secret and received their reward. We have emphasized severally that God rewards the sacrifices done in secret and in Love. Today, I like to look at another man who gave his house to the Lord and his disciples to celebrate the Passover. We would notice from today’s reading that he was a known man to Jesus but wasn’t named by any of the gospel authors. This unnamed man gave his house to institute what would later be the second most practiced Christian ritual after water baptism.

The Passover meal comprised of bread and wine which was a type representing the body and the blood of Jesus, the body being crucified paid for the death due to all that believe and the blood for the washing and forgiveness of our sins. The event of that day gave a graphic picture of what Jesus did on the cross and by Jesus’ instruction is still being practiced today with testimonies of supernatural healing and spiritual awakening following. As we look into the bible, we notice that some of the greatest acts of love and sacrifice may not have a name attached but would have an eternal reward. Today as we read about the Passover, we must refer to the house owner who gave his home to further the agenda of God.

Dear saints, those who labor in secret shall receive their reward openly, not only on earth but at the judgement seat of Christ (2 Cor 5.9-10). Like the unnamed man, what you do today would be brought up in future, we must therefore labor for the Lord. By implication what the man did was to give his property to preach the death and redemptive work of Jesus Christ.  What are you giving to promote the gospel? It doesn’t have to be money, it could be your time, house, knowledge, platform etc, God who sees in secret would reward you openly. May the Lord grant us light.
